Excellent property exactly as described

Date of Stay: July 2016

We thought that the most important thing that made this a great holiday was the consideration and attention that owner Malcolm gave to one of our party who has mobility problems. He spent considerable time before we booked explaining how to overcome any mobility aspects of the property ( which in fact were very few) This personal contact was so much better than dealing with a paid representative of a company and if future potential customers have any reservations on any count I can give assurance that Malcolm will spend whatever time is needed to resolve any issues. The villa itself was excellent as were the facilities and condition of all equipment where we lacked for nothing. The outdoor facilities were great with a range of different seating areas which would allow larger groups to spread out rather than being crowded together. The pool was fine for a cool off and was maintained in a very clean condition and there was a very ample supply of loungers . beds and towels for those wishing to visit the numerous delightful and quiet beaches and there were many useful booklets to guide trips away on very well surfaced and traffic free roads. The only concern about car travel in this area is that the roads in old parts of towns are very difficult for other than small cars and many have restrictions on entry enforced by cameras and computers which send fixed price penalty notices to offenders – beware the TVA signs ( Traffico a Veicolo Limitato). If you are looking for a very relaxed holiday in tranquil settings this is the place. Others have mentioned the sound of the sheep bells as they are lead morning and evening from pastures for milking (so we assume as they are certainly not bred for meat) This is quite a sonorous treat and certainly not a nuisance

Absolutely delightful

Date of Stay: Jun 2016

If you are looking for a holiday in Sardinia in a quiet and rural setting with only passing lizards and birds and butterflies as outside companions then look no further than this Villa. We also had a visit from a local tortoise.

It is very well equipped with plenty of spare plates, knives, forks etc and all in very good order and condition. The rooms are a good size with plenty of storage space although you hardly need to take any clothes. There are 2 good shower areas with very hot water from the solar system.

Outside, there are a number of places to sit and lounge around. Long chairs by the pool; chairs under the old cork trees for the evening sun ; a lounger at the top of the garden and a hammock at the front. There is also a veranda at the front with a large wooden table and chairs: just take your pick.

If you fancy a trip to the nearest beaches ( about 30 minutes away), there are sunshade umbrellas and a mass of children’s buckets and spades. Badminton is available for the keen people.

The area is steeped in historical remains many within easy reach. None more so than the 3,500 year old stone tower in the garden.

We had a delightful holiday made even more pleasant by the owner, Malcolm, who was helpful and friendly without ever being intrusive. He is a mine of local information for anything not covered by the extensive folders of local maps, brochures and guides which are in the villa.

This is a villa that fully lived up to our hopes and expectations.

Go there and enjoy it.

A peaceful paradise

Date of Stay : June 2016

This was our first visit to Sardinia and it did not disappoint, it’s been one of the best holidays we’ve had. Where do we start? Well let’s start with the local area around the villa. Remote and peaceful with no immediate neighbouring villas, but only a couple of minutes away from the village of Erula where there is a shop for supplies. We visited a few of the local beaches close by and always managed to be distracted on the way by either a church, castle, terme, gorge or Nuraghe. The whole area is littered with history and geology, Malcolm suggested two museums for us to visit which explained much about the islands rich story.

The villa itself was perfect, just what we were hoping for. Bright, well equipped with everything you need. Comfy double bed with crisp cotton sheets and brilliant ensuit shower. Outside of the villa the garden was an oasis for relaxing, with many different areas carefully planned out to take advantage of the wonderful views all around. The pool was heavenly refreshing to cool down in, with its crystal clear soft water. Whilst relaxing anywhere around the villa you will hear the soft but busy chattering of birds, the distant calls of a cuckoo or two and the gentle tinkering of bells which adorn the local cattle.

The local roads were heavenly for early morning cycling before the temperatures crept up, the road surfaces were much better than anticipated and it was a perfect area for both climbing and descending.

If we had to name one thing that would of made our holiday even better, it would be that we had two weeks there instead of one.

Thank you Malcolm for being the perfect host, we had a fantastic time and look forward to returning next year.

An Excellent Week
Date of Stay : August 2015

We stayed at Villa Nuraghe in late August 2015. What a delight! Val and Malc boast that you can arrive with hand luggage only, and the attention to detail is such that this is probably true. The property is clearly a labour of love and a source of pride, and stands in contrast to other rental properties we have seen which are often run to minimise costs. All angles are covered, from cold drinks and wine on arrival and a huge library of local information, to towels you can take to the beach, and even body board, umbrellas and flippers. We juiced fresh oranges for breakfast (the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped), and cooled off in hot afternoons in the spotless pool. We frequently choose to rent cottages which are back from the coast a little, aiming for a more authentic rural experience with striking distance to the beach when we need it. Once again this strategy worked for us; if you value privacy then this place is for you, set behind a gated and long driveway on a large plot with interesting nooks and crannies, pleasant views, and its very own prehistoric structure on site. Nearby Perfugas is small and sleepy but has a fine supermarket for supplies. Val and Malc made us feel truly welcome here. We would strongly recommend this property to anybody interested in exploring this northern corner of Sardinia.

A little place called paradise…

The Villa Nurraghe simply is the best place we ever rented as a vacation residence! Quiet location, clean, not too far from the sea but very private. All needed comfort (pool, well equipped bathroom, kitchen, …) with an extraordinary service from the super friendly owners who will do their utmost to make your stay as good as it can be… Top establishment with top service for a more than honest price!

Beautiful, quiet and away from it all…
Date of Stay: May 2015
Villa Nuraghe is a beautifully appointed villa; clean, tidy, tastefully decorated and with all you’ll need for your stay. The location is stunning; in the middle of the countryside with just the sound of sheep bells and a cuckoo to break the quiet. The gardens are large and have plenty of places to sit and take in the views; from the top of the land looking over the valley to the foothills beyond, by the pool, coffee in the nook near the house, on a lounger by the water feature or sitting at the lovely outside dining area. The outside terrace is spacious, beautifully lit by solar fairy lights after dark and with a BBQ. Our girls loved watching the lizards, splashing in the pool and roaming the garden jumping on the boulders scattered through it or exploring the nuraghe on the land. Owners, Malcolm and Valerie are brilliant; full of suggestions of places to visits, beaches to go to (snorkelling, quiet, rocky, near town etc), where to buy the best (cheap and very tasty) local wine and cheeses. The villa has a wealth of literature, both books to read and tourist information (places to visit, history, walks etc). There’s even snorkels and masks, a boogy board, sun shades, buckets and spades etc to borrow. If you like peace and quiet and a rural location then Villa Nuraghe is perfect. You won’t regret it…
Would we go back? Yes…

Sooo quiet – just sheep bells and a cuckoo
Date of Stay: May 2015
This is such a lovely place to stay – a beautiful house in a lovely location with views in all directions. The garden is on a slope with boulders and lovely trees (olive, cork, wild pear) and you can sit in the back garden on a warm boulder or on a handy garden chair and watch the sun go down. The pool is wonderful and we used it every day even though it was only May. Comfy sun loungers on the decking were well used.
The owners were very helpful and only a phone call away. On one occasion they came to tell us the authorities were cutting off the electricity the next day. The property was very well equipped, clean and well looked after. The main bedroom was particularly nice. The shower rooms were very stylish. It was good to have beach towels provided.
The owners had left lots of useful information and maps on walks and things to do. We followed some of the walks and they were delightful, especially as the wild flowers were spectacular. The wind farm walk was especially stunning.
We didn’t go out for evening meals as we liked being at the house so much. We had dinner on the lovely terrace and listened to the sheep bells, frogs croaking and the occasional donkey bray. Certainly no sounds of traffic.
We drove east one day and did an amazing walk up Monte Limbara, even seeing the Illyrian Sea Lily on our walk.
Delightful place to stay and would thoroughly recommend with no reservations.

A great property in a lovely location
Date of Stay: May 2015
This villa is a gem: beautiful “away from it all” location yet with beaches and towns within reach. The house is well equipped and beautifully presented and the garden is secluded, exciting for children and with stunning mountain views. Our hosts were charming and helpful.
There is a wealth of information on walks, beaches and local attractions in the villla. We found some good walks, some close to the villa. Inevitably, being away from it all means a trip in the car for most activities and we found that pizza and pasta restaurants predominate! We also had opportunities to try out our Italian phrasebook!

Most tranquil property with only sheep around                                                          Date of stay: Oct 2014

We (couple mid 40ies) chose the villa nuraghe as a base to explore the north of Sardinia and spent one week there – too short. We were looking for something tranquil – and it really was. Within a range of some 100s of meters there was nothing – but sheep with their bells and on the property itself lizards. Since the huge property is sourrounded by stone walls and macchia we felt very private.
After a long drive from Cagliari (with the directions we had got we found the villa immediately) we had a warm welcome from the owners – Malcom and Valerie -, who explained everything in the house and on the property. We found everthing described and more. There were al lot of sitting areas scattered on the property – so we could find the perfect relaxing place at any time of the day. The pool was lovely and very clean. House and garden were clean and well-kept. The kitchen was well-equiped and we were encouraged to use the herb garden and to eat the garden fruits (grapes, almonds, pomegranate – there were also some fig-trees). We could have breakfast in the morning sun (not so hot) and dinner in the shade of the pergola on the terrace.
Valerie was very helpful to make a reservation for dinner at a recommended agriturismo (Putzu Canu) which offered traditional sardinian cuisine.
We wished we had stayed longer and can fully recomend this place. We wish to come back one day.

Gorgeous location, excellent villa                                                                                Date of Stay: Sept 2014

We recently spent 2 weeks here and thorougherly enjoyed every minute of it. Villa Nuraghe is a delight, it catered for our every need on the inside, especially liked the fact that each bedroom had its own bathroom, so we didn’t have to share with the kids! Outside the grounds are amazing, so many different areas of the garden to explore which was great fun for the children, whilst being safely enclosed so we could leave them to their own devices.
The owners were more than accommodating, so friendly and always happy to help.
Sardinia is a beautiful country, with some excellent beaches, and the villa enabled us to have a wonderful holiday.

Lovely fortnight in Villa Nuraghe                                                                                         Date of stay: Sept 2014

Had a wonderful holiday in the unspoilt island of Sardinia.
Val and Malc greeted us on our arrival and treated us like old friends, lovely couple.
Huge grounds with a partial Nuraghe tower, lovely pool, numerous sitting areas scattered around with loungers everywhere, sheer bliss.
My wife was in heaven with numerous fig trees with ripe fruit, almonds and grapes growing up a vine over a covered pergola, sheltering a huge table and dining chairs alongside a built in BBQ, which we used every night. We used this sitting area for every breakfast, lunch and dinner whilst looking at the view over the valley.
My brother in law was very excited to see a large land tortoise at the bottom of the drive, also had a resident toad, praying mantis and a few little harmless snakes and numerous lizards.
The villa was well equipped and comfortable with a bonus of two on suites.
Val and Malc directed us to a wine cooperative in the local town of Perfugas, where for two euros they dispensed a litre of excellent red wine, this outlet satisfied all our wine needs for the holiday.
Hope to return in the future.

Idyllic location, beautiful villa, perfect hosts                                                               Date of stay : July 2014

We arrived late in the afternoon after a long drive from the other side of the island for a week of relaxation at Villa Nuraghe; as we climbed up the valley and away from the main road we started to realise that after lots of searching around the internet we had definitely picked the right property.Malc and Val were waiting to hand us the keys and give us a quick tour around the property just pointing out useful bits of information as to where everything was and how things worked so that we could enjoy our stay. As they live nearby they have lots of local knowledge on where to visit depending on what you are interested in.The property itself was perfectly clean inside with two en-suites and everything you would expect in terms of appliances along with extra touches such as a dishwasher, a great walk-in shower, four-poster bed and a selection of books. That said we spent almost all of our time outside in the beautiful weather either cooling off in the pool, watching the sun go down from the top of the garden or at the stone barbecue while drinking local wine and cheese from the co-operative shops in town. The weather in July meant that it was more than comfortable to sit out until after 11pm so you don’t need to cut your day short to make sure you’re back in time to cook outside.
Malcolm’s top tip of opening some of the windows to let the sea breeze in during the evening cooled the villa to just the right level, a satisfying, natural alternative to noisy air conditioning units. If you can drag yourself away from the pool I would also recommend visiting some of the beaches which can be found just 20-30 minutes away with some of the clearest waters I’ve ever seen. If you enjoy snorkelling there are plenty of fish to look out for. For some local food visit the Agri-Turismo restaurant “Putzu” which has amazing views over the Sardinian countryside to complement its fantastic food and service. Val and Malc kindly booked this for us and were right to advise that we went there hungry because the food is in vast quantities and far too good to stop eating.
If you like outdoor swimming visit the pools at Tiempo, we spent a while finding them but when we got there had them all to ourselves. We visited as a couple in our late twenties and would definitely recommend to others for a relaxing and romantic break with a location remote enough to be peaceful in the evenings but convenient enough so that you don’t have to have everything planned in advance.

Quietness and perfect view                                                                                          Date of stay:July 2014

We are a family of four, two adults and two girls at the age of 4 and 7. When arriving at Villa Nuraghe, coming from Alghero, we were struck by the quietness and the beautiful view. We felt at home straight away, which Val and Malcom only enforced by making a thorough introduction to the area and all the different local opportunities. We really enjoyed our stay – many days relaxing by the pool and exploring the paths around the house. When our girls weren’t in the pool they were exploring the grounds and all the lizards lying on the rocks. We highly recommend the Villa and will probably go back at some stage. The hospitality of the owners was overwhelming. Even when our youngest hit her head, Val and Malcolm showed up with a bag full of first aid. So if you want to go somewhere quiet with a pool and plenty of exiting things to do, don’t hesitate to choose Villa Nuraghe. All the best, Heidi Mortensen, Denmark.
Peaceful, relaxing location
Date of Stay: June 2014
Description of location and property was very accurate and the excellent service provided by Val & Malc was friendly yet unobtrusive. We enjoy walking and both the local countryside and the mountain areas are within easy reach and provided us a good variety of gentle strolls and more vigorous treks depending on the temperature!! Excellent local beaches and friendly local towns and villages made this a very enjoyable holiday. Hope to be back someday!!!

“Quiet, comfortable, excellent rural location”

 Date of Stay: June 2014

We were looking for somewhere to relax and unwind, and we found it. We booked before we knew about the addition of a small swimming pool, which will doubtless be a boon during really hot weather. Very friendly owners, and local people helpful and welcoming. Some distance from the sea; Castelsardo was definitely worth a visit. An unpretentious part of the world, which suited us.

“Family-friendly villa in a very beautiful setting “

Date of Stay: May 2014

We enjoyed our recent stay at Villa Nuraghe with our two sons (aged 4 & 1) immensely. Top class customer service was provided by owners Val & Malc who couldn’t be more friendly & helpful whilst leaving us in peace to enjoy our holiday. The place was easy to find from the instructions provided and the description in the listing is accurate – although no photographs can really do justice to the stunning view you will behold from the veranda! Days were spent lazing by the pool, eating gorgeous local produce on the veranda and visiting the many beautiful local beaches and areas of outstanding natural beauty in the afternoon. Evenings consisted of leisurely barbeques or meals out at excellent local restaurants – such as the “Agri-Turismo” restaurant “Putzu” – where a Sardinian feast to be remembered was demolished. The property is clean and well thought out with everything you could want from a place to stay with kids: well-equipped, safe, lots to do. Our 4 year old enjoyed nothing more than heading out into the gated grounds to explore the hills and boulders whilst looking for lizards and butterflies. The thoughtful addition of a lockable gate to the decked pool area removing any worries for his parents! We really can’t recommend this place enough if you just want to chill out with your family. Beautiful country, friendly people, amazing food. Happy customers here! Thanks for having us – The Hayes-Felthams 🙂

Great stay in Sardinia

Date of stay: September 2013

The villa and area has so much to offer – for me the silence and black sky at night were a shear joy, but, just being able to melt into the landscape was equally great. I think the danger is that there are so many things to see and do that you can easily get drawn into sitting in a car and spending all day chasing the horizon. However, for me it was a great place to chill out, read, write and draw and enjoy the quiet with loads of wildlife for company. We would rate 10 out of 10 for both facilities, welcome, your help and attention.

Unwind!                                                                                                                             Date of Stay: August 2013

Beautiful place so peaceful and tranquil. The gardens and surrounding views are amazing. Lots to do locally if, you can tear yourself away from this super villa. Super safe for kids. Great views if you like to paint or just simply enjoy! Super food and wine available locally. Lovely owners Lots of places to explore. Windsurfing, river trips, beaches galore – 30-40 min drive. Accommodation inside very lovely – outside great. Chairs and sunbeds dotted around the grounds enabling you to relax wherever the mood takes you! Lots of information, maps etc available in the villa to help you choose your Sardinian adventures! Water cascades were very special – you can see in the web page for the villa! Too much to do and see in one visit. If you like relaxing and find exploring relaxing too then go to Villa Perfugas – you will have a lovely time! If you have any worries about crazy Italian drivers in Sardinia – then put them aside – It is very laid back and the driving is not remotely daunting! The villa does not have a pool currently (2013) I think that worked to our advantage! If there had been a pool we might not have ventured out at all! It is very clearly a much loved property, perfect condition throughout and we were very reluctant to leave!

A truly beautiful location, great villa and hosts                                                            Date of Stay: July 2013

The description on the website of Villa Nuraghe is 100% accurate, it really is in a beautiful area, quite, tranquil but not remote. 3kms from nearest shops and only 10mins from Perfugas. The views are stunning, the sunsets from the top of the garden beautiful and to see such a star filled sky at night as there is no light pollution is fantastic . Malc and Val are simply superb, non obtrusive, but there if you need them. The attention detail is important to us, and they have thought of many things i.e. Umbrellas for the beach, Cool box for picnics, Information on place to visit etc. Beaches about 30mins drive, which was ok as roads are quite and scenery beautiful. Our children really enjoyed the ‘get back to nature’ of playing/exploring in the expansive gardens. A great weeks holiday, thoroughly recommended to both families and couples.

And the following lovely drawing was  from their daughter Imogen. It was a pleasure to get to know you and your familly too  dear Imogen / Eleonore 😉

Quiet, relaxing, confortable and clean                                                                         Date of stay: June 3013

We are just back from 2 lovely weeks at Villa Nuraghe, it is a really peaceful place with a remote feel, yet is just a 10-15 minute drive from supermarkets, restaurants and other shops including a bakery. Very little traffic comes down the tiny lane providing access to the villa, the sofa and the bed were quite possibly the most comfortable we have experienced in many villa/cottage stays over the years.
The setting is also really lovely with lush green rolling hills stretching off in every direction, the swing seat at the top of the large boulder-strewn garden was one of our favourite spots with a view down over the villa to the hills beyond. My wife was even treated to a glimpse of a wild pig which wandered into the garden one day!
The information provided by Val and Malcolm regarding the local area was comprehensive and accurate, they live locally during the summer and are really intent on making sure their guests are happy.
There is plenty to see and do including several really good beaches within easy reach by car, plus the towns of Alghero and Castelsardo, and various sites of historic and archaeological interest.
Would we stay here again if returning to this part of Sardinia? Yes absolutely, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting to visit this area.

Fabulous holiday                                                                                                             Date of Stay: Jun 2013

We found villa Nuraghe easily with the instructions from Val, clear & easy to follow. The Villa is in a fab position. Out in the countryside, just 3 km to the nearest shop and just a 10min drive to the village of perfugas with all the facilities you would need.

The Villa was spotless. A lovely note & a bottle of wine greeted us…. a lovely touch.
Sardinia is a very big island, and probably best as a 2 or 3 centre.
We spent some days being busy with boat rides & the beautiful town of Alghero. Well worth a long days visit. just as nice was the days spent at the villa, watching the local birds and animals. Plenty of shade if like me you needed it.
We had a small disaster when we hit a wild boar with our hire car.( Not uncommon so please take out the excess waiver insurance when you book a car.) We were saved by Val & Malc who came out to the crash site and took us back to the airport. Having them near was a godsend and reassuring for anyone staying in the Villa.

Great place for relaxing stay                                                                                           Date of stay: June 2013

We stayed at this villa for a week and had a great time relaxing inside the spacious garden and the house, but also exploring most of the North side of Sardinia and La Maddalena Island which is only 80 km away. As most other reviewers pointed out the surrounding lush hills are just breathtaking, very tranquil and beautiful. For those interested in history it’ll be curious to discover a part of old nuraghe at the corner of the property. The nearest town of Perfugas is only 7 km away, so it’s very convienient for people who like to cook their own food in fully equipped kitchen and tasty local wine available there. You can find lots of information booklets in the villa, so for us every next day felt better than the last. Towns of Alghero, Castelsardo are beautiful and within a short drive. Besides chilled out relaxing time at evenings and interesting exploration of Sardinia during the days, personally it was great to find a book by Ben Elton “Blind Faith” which I read during the stay, so thanks for whoever put it there. We would definitely recommend this villa to our friends and anyone who are considering a full holiday experience of Sardinia.

Yorkshire feedback                                                                                                         Date of stay: June 2013

Spacious villa with expansive views in all directions. Not overlooked perfect for lounging and relaxed outdoor eating.Excellent facilities including the two on suite bathrooms.

Limited facilities nearby but enjoyable drives on empty roads to nearby towns and villages.
Would return again. Mal and Val welcoming hosts totally unobtrusive but always available for any queries.
Thanks again Ian,Lesley,Barbaras

Perfect repose                                                                                                                 Date of stay: May 2013

Having been in almost every region of Italy we wanted to visit Sardinia this year. We could spend 2 weeks in May, because the children had school holidays. We are a family with two children from Bavaria.
For one week Valerie and Malcolm were our hosts. We were heartily welcomed and felt comfortable from the very first moment we arrived. The whole property in the middle of a peaceful and beautiful landscape is stunning and so is the villa. The accommodation is tastefully chosen and everything is well thought out down to the tiniest detail. You recognize that only when you’re in need for something – everything is just in place: The equipment in the kitchen, travel guides with selected hints and recommendations by Valerie and Malcolm, the garden swing, the secret places in the rock garden, the illuminated veranda, the fireplace, the little well bubbling when the sun shines… The importance of these details cannot be overestimated, because your head just feels free – it’s the perfect repose. Pace e tranquillità in Sardegna.
Villa Nuraghe was one of our best holiday homes we had – and we know quite a lot. It is very much recommended!

Beautiful secluded villa
Date of stay: April 2013
We enjoyed our stay at villa Nuraghe very much! You feel as if you were miles away from civilization, the surroundings are so rural. The house is comfortable and very new in the inside. We were greatly surprised by the equipment of the villa. Kitchen, beach, dvd needs are totally covered, as well as all the info prepared for guests about the island. We think is’s a great place to tour the north of the island. The best beaches that we found were the ones closest to the villa (30 minute drives). It’s a great place to stay, just a bit difficult to find the first time around. We totally recommend it!

Sardinian delights!                                                                                                           Date of Stay: April 2013

Being very loyal to Tuscany my wife and I decided to move away from our comfort zone this time and risk a sojourn to Sardinia.
Having done all the research we were tempted by the description given on the web page regarding Villa Nur-and we were not disappointed.

From our initial booking we were given excellent support on line from the owners Malcolm and Valerie and this was continued on arrival to this idyllic villa nestled within the Sardinia countryside.

We were greeted with much needed sunshine and welcome pack following our journey from Alghero about 1 hour in duration and no toll roads!!

All instructions from our hosts prior to our arrival were spot on from tips on negotiating the airport to our actual drive and where to stop off en route.

We were the first to rent this newly renovated Villa and were impressed by the attention to detail and well equipped facilities.
Make use of the owners offer to meet and greet as they have lived in the area for a long time and have all the top tips in addition it was great not to worry about how to use the facilities. You really felt that the owners truly wanted you to enjoy their property and during our stay they ensured that they went that extra mile to make our stay even more enjoyable.
I would urge anyone looking for both a place to chill and relax and those craving a family break to seriously consider the Villa Nur.It has everything! Supermarkets, restaurants etc are nearby in small market villages but also for those craving bigger shops then Perfugus is equally not far from your Villa.

Likewise as stated on their web page the beaches/sea side towns are no more than 20 minutes away and also numerous places of historic interest.

For its proximity to the glorious unspoiled beaches to the peaceful countryside this truly was a wonderful find so my advice – book early as I can imagine that once Villa Nur is discovered then visitors will not want to go anywhere else!
